About

Iconic Tattoos is the studio of Matthew Wojciechowski, a tattoo artist with 35+ years of experience working in suite 22 in Sola Salon, Fairfax, VA. His work draws from Japanese, Buddhist, Hindu, and Asian artistic traditions, executed through an American lens. Bold outlines, strong rendering, large-scale pieces built to last. This isn't a walk-in shop... Every piece starts with a conversation.

The Work

Matthew began his apprenticeship in 1988 and has been tattooing professionally since 1990. Over 35 years he has developed a specialty in large-scale Asian-inspired work. Japanese, Buddhist, Hindu, Nepali, and Bhutanese imagery executed through an American Traditional lens. Bold outlines, deliberate light source, strong rendering. Pieces designed to wear well for a lifetime.

He works out of suite 22 at Sola Salon in Fairfax, VA, serving clients from across Northern Virginia and the DC area.

Artistic Vision & Style

The work is unapologetically American in execution — bold outlines, strong light source, built to last on skin. The imagery draws from Japanese, Buddhist, Hindu, Nepali, and Bhutanese artistic traditions. Not appropriation, just deep respect for source material that has informed Matthew's practice for decades.

Large-scale pieces are the specialty. Sleeves, back pieces, full compositions that work as a unified whole. Every element placed with intention.

  • Professional

    Professional

Every session starts with a consultation. I want to know what you're after, what matters to you, and how it fits the bigger picture before we ever talk about scheduling. The studio is private and relaxed. You're not getting rushed in and out.

  • Aftercare Guidance

    Aftercare Guidance

You'll leave with written aftercare instructions and a full explanation of how to care for your new tattoo. Keeping it clean, moisturized, and out of the sun in the early weeks protects the work long term.

  • Modern Tools

    Modern Tools

I work with top of the line machines and inks chosen for longevity and color retention. Staying connected — conventions, other artists, what's happening in the industry — keeps the toolkit current. The goal is always work that holds up over time.
